Reading benchmarks responsibly
What a frame-rate figure means, what it doesn't, and why we show sources and dates.
Context is part of the number
A frame-rate figure only means something alongside the game or application, resolution, quality settings, the rest of the test system, driver versions and the date it was measured.
That's why Avalon shows source, settings and date for every benchmark record, and shows nothing at all when we don't have sourced data — we don't generate estimates.
Averages and lows
Average frames per second describes overall throughput; 1% lows describe stutter. A smooth experience depends on both.
